When I was writing this track, I got the sense that it was all about the pure joy of dancing. As I paused to think of dancers I admired, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire immediately came to mind. Of course, they weren’t dancing to music like this, but the groove and melodic ideas naturally leaned toward a more retro sound—one that reminded me of one of my all-time favorite albums, Thriller. Enter Michael Jackson. This song is a tribute to what M.J. brought to modern dance culture—and honestly, I probably don’t need to explain any more than that.
